On Saturday, December 6 at 3:30 p.m., violinist and author Paulina Derbez will present The Conscious Musician<\/em>, the English version of her book El M\u00fasico Consciente<\/em>, as part of the Griots & Scribes Festival of the Arts organized by Accents Bookstore at Artscape Wychwood Barns on the festival\u2019s main stage. The book has been published by Editorial Ink and features a prologue by renowned Mexican author Jorge Volpi.<\/p>\n

The Conscious Musician<\/em> is a book that offers tools for musicians to use the mind, emotions and body in their daily practice, transforming that practice into a work of art in itself. It also offers a new vision of music and points to the need to completely renew the way music is taught today. The book is aimed at both students and professionals in the field.<\/p>\n

Paulina Derbez has presented the Spanish version of her book at the 2013 International Book Fair in Guadalajara, the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City, Accents Bookstore in Toronto, the 2014 Guanajuato Book Fair, and the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), among others.<\/p>\n

In view of her career and her contribution to music education, Derbez was recognized as one of the \u201c50 personalities transforming Mexico\u201d by the magazine Qui\u00e9n <\/em>in 2013, and as one of the \u201ctop ten most successful Mexicans in Canada by Latinos<\/em> magazine (Globe and Mail <\/em>supplement, March 2014).<\/p>\n

Derbez has also appeared on TV networks such as TV Azteca de M\u00e9xico<\/a> to discuss her book. In December an article on The Conscious Musician<\/em> will appear in the German magazine Experimenta<\/a>.<\/p>\n
