THE SOUND OF POETRY

Paulina Derbez, violin and poetry recital

“Through the sonic spiral, an incandescent fire arises from inside me that takes me to a place with no time and no space ” – P. Derbez

The Sound of Poetry/El Sonido de la Poesía is a recital of violin and poetry bringing themusic of Arcangelo  Corelli, César Franck, Antonio Vivaldi and José P. Moncayo together with the poetry of Octavio Paz and Antonio Vivaldi.  In this way, music brings the soul of poetry to life in the space, and the performer becomes a sonic character on stage.

This event will take place as part of the activities of International  Poetry Day in Toronto on March 25. For more information, click here.

  1. “Music is poetry that goes beyond the word’s limits”. There is no better way to define this quote, than to listen to Paulina Derbez undo the verbal braid of a poem, and one by one, free the strands of hair into the infinite bound of this mezmerising musical dimension, where all strands dance to a rhapsody that translates the words and thoughts into a soothing wave of pleasant feeelings.
